DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia stopped by the AKOO New York showroom, and we had the opportunity to catch up with him and get his opinion on the changes in rap, personal style, and being a King.
AKOO: You’ve been a player in the game for some time now and have remained consistent, but as most things do the game has changed. How do you feel about the current state of rap and the direction it is going in?
DJ Paul: Some of the new rap I ain’t really a fan of it, but you know, I’m sure some of the old school rappers weren’t a fan of my rap. So it’s like everything changes, I used to DJ too, I just started back dj’ing, and you read all the interviews and stuff, and all that about how cdj dj’s don’t like the dj’s who just use the track or something like that

Donating to charity and your wardrobe at the same time
“Falling Whistles” has become a very popular name as of late. The charity was started to raise awareness to child soldiers fighting in the Congo. The idea for the necklaces come from the fact that certain children are given a whistle and ordered to stand on the front lines, only to blow their whistle when they see the enemy approaching. There is no way possible that we could do the story enough justice so click here and read the story as written by the founder of the not-for-profit.

Most of you have had the opportunity to listen to “Enough Said,” the new Aaliyah track featuring Drake . This song is being presented as a single off an upcoming Aaliyah album that will be released. This is by no means the first time Drake has shown interest in Aaliyah either (check out Complex Magazines breakdown of his references to her in past music). Judging from the late artist’s popularity still to this day, the album is sure to be something that will impress. Not much has been released in regards to details about the album but with the recent release of the single, it could be soon.
